FAQ

Questions, answered plainly.

How Formerie works, what it costs, and what isn’t ready yet.

What is Formerie?

Formerie is a hosted forms service from Quebec. It receives form submissions from any website, validates them on the server, delivers them through configuration you keep private, and records each delivery attempt so you can check what happened.

Do I need my own backend to use Formerie on a static site?

No. Formerie is the backend. Link to a hosted form page, add one script tag, or call the JSON API from your own markup. Your site never handles recipients, templates, or provider keys.

Can someone change where a submission goes from the browser?

No. Browsers send field values, a verification token when the form requires one, and safe metadata. Recipients, templates, delivery rules, and provider credentials are configured on the server, and a request can’t override them.

What happens when an email delivery fails?

The attempt is recorded with a readable reason, and temporary failures retry automatically, up to 5 attempts. Managers can also retry a failed delivery from the submission page, so nobody has to guess whether a message went out.

How much does Formerie cost?

New workspaces start on the Free plan. Formerie is in early access, so the listed prices for the Site, Growth, and Business plans aren’t being charged. Early access has no set end date, and prices and limits may change.

Which frameworks does Formerie support?

Formerie publishes alpha packages for React, Next.js, Vue, Nuxt, Svelte, Astro, Remix, Angular, and Solid, plus the framework-neutral @formerie/client. Any other stack can use the hosted page, the script embed, or the JSON API.

Can a plain HTML form post to Formerie?

Not directly. The public API takes JSON and answers in JSON. For a page without JavaScript of your own, use the hosted page or the script embed, which handle the request for you.

Can I use my own domain and email provider?

Yes, on plans that include them. You can serve forms from your own hostname through a guided DNS setup, verify your domain with a TXT record (on every plan), and connect SMTP, Postmark, Resend, Brevo, Mailgun, SendGrid, Mailchimp Transactional, Mailtrap, SMTP2GO, or Sender.net. During early access, talk to us to get them.

How does Formerie handle spam?

Honeypot and link checks run by default, and public routes are rate limited at the edge. You can also require Cloudflare Turnstile or reCAPTCHA on a form, and restrict which origins may submit from a browser.

Can I export submissions?

You can export submission and delivery metadata to CSV. The CSV doesn’t include the answers themselves, which you read on each submission’s page.

Does Formerie support surveys and multi-step forms?

You can build a simple survey today as a form with number, choice, and text fields, shown together on one hosted page. Step-by-step hosted forms and response reporting are planned, with no dates yet.

Can I build and manage forms with AI?

Not yet. Smart routing, an AI builder, plain-language rules, opt-in help for people completing forms, AI spam filtering, and management from AI tools over MCP are coming soon, with no dates yet. You can join the AI early-access list. Today, the SDK’s formerie ai setup command installs a Formerie skill for Codex.

Create a workspace and publish your first form.

In early access. New workspaces start on the Free plan.
